The often frequently used repellent is Bifenthrin, with a residual effectiveness of up to 5 years.

Non Repellent Chemicals

Non-repellents are chemicals that termites don’t detect. Given they then don’t avoid them, they go through the residue and die. Additionally, individual white ants may often transfer these chemicals on to other members in the colony, generating a compounding and efficient effect.

Because the termites don’t detect these non-repellent chemicals, they can’t tell untreated from treated locations, and are much less likely to gain ingress through possible gaps.

The most common used non-repellent chemical is Fipronil which has a residual life span of as much as eight years.

By using an Above Ground System, termites can be eliminated from your structure by positioning bait stations at the site of white ant activity, and encouraging the pests to eat the bait matrix instead of the timber they have been eating. This soon kills the termites that eat the bait, and there is also a compounding effect when worker termites return to the colony and feed that bait to fellow nest members.

In this way, the whole nest can be eliminated even though the position of the colony is not known. The stations should be assessed and monitored regularly in case the situation should call for stations to be rebaited, the placement of more bait stations, or if they should be moved.

In Ground Systems can be used similarly to Above Ground Systems. However they are typically installed around the property to provide early detection of termites. This method is especially important when the building design prevents the effective use of perimeter barriers, as they catch the white ants before the perimeter is breached.
